Celebrate a Small Town Christmas in Maupin

Every December, cities across the country get decked out in lights and festive décor to welcome the holiday season. Nowhere is this scene more picturesque than in a small, rural town like Maupin. This time of year brings out the lights and brings in the fishermen and hunters. This is where residents and visitors alike share their days’ adventures and warm up for the night on holiday recipes. If you’re planning to be in the Maupin area this December, we invite you to join us for our Christmas festivities.

Christmas Tree Lighting at Kaiser Park

Every year, the town of Maupin comes together in Kaiser Park to light the town Christmas Tree. The lighting is just one aspect of the event though. Families can sip free hot chocolate as they view the lights and listen to carolers. Kids will even get the chance to meet Donna the Friendly Elf. Be sure to wear winter layers to stay warm and bring a flashlight to stay safe. Join us December 6th at 6pm in Kaiser Park to bring in the holiday season!

Christmas Lights Contest in South Wasco County

Not everyone will be able to make it to the Christmas Tree Lighting of course, but the festivities will spread across all of South Wasco County. If you’re a resident anywhere within the South Wasco County borders, then put a little extra effort into your Christmas lights this year. There will be a contest to be judged on December 15th, so make sure your Christmas displays are up by 4pm that day. Cash prizes will go to the winners. Good luck!

Whether you’ll be joining in our holiday celebrations or not, we invite you to slow down and take a moment as you pass through the quiet streets of Maupin. Admire the beauty of the lights, the warmth of the residents, and the peacefulness of winter in a small town.
