3 Tips to Start Your Maupin School Year Off Right

The new 2016-2017 school year is finally here, but with nearly a full year left to go, you still have plenty of time to get things started off right for your family. Check out these 3 tips for a great school year!

1) How to Get the Right School Supplies

Well, it’s back to school already, if you can believe it. School supplies are an important part of the back to school season, and you should know what you need to do to make sure your students have what they need. First, anyone in grades K-6 just needs to pay a $15 fee, as Maupin Grade School has an arrangement with vendors for bulk supplies. That’s all you have to do (although the school welcomes additional donations of $15 to help support other students in need).

For students between 7th grade and 12th grade, there’s simply a list of supplies for them to bring themselves. Many of these are optional, such as a scientific calculator, scissors, or colored pencils. You can find a complete list of requested school supplies for this group on the South Wasco County School District website.

2) Where to Find the Lunch Menu

Are you trying to decide whether you should send the kids to school with a cold lunch or let them go with the school’s lunch instead? The good news is, you don’t have to look very far to find out what’s on the menu! Simply visit the Current Lunch Menu on the South Wasco County School District #1’s website to see what’s cooking. You should also note that every meal is served with fresh fruits, veggies, and a choice of milk.

3) Local Sports Games

If you have kids involved in fall or winter athletics in the school district -- or you simply want to be there to support your favorite local teams -- you should check out the official calendar for South Wasco County School District. This shares the dates and times for all local sports games, including volleyball, football, and basketball. The calendar also lists other dates that are good to know about, such as days with early release, in-service, or parent/teacher conferences.

There’s nothing like a brand new school year, with months of learning, fun events, and engaging activities ahead. You can stay prepared by taking advantage of these tips and bookmarking the South Wasco County School District website. A lot of the information you need to know for a great school year can be found right there.
