Stand Up Paddle Boarding (SUP) on rivers is gaining popularity around the globe, and Maupin is the perfect setting for beginners and experts alike. What was once seen as a fringe discipline of SUP, white water paddling is quickly becoming a sought-after adventure. SUPing on a river is similar to surfing on the ocean or snowboarding down a mountain. The lower Deschutes offers water for all levels, with class I – II rapids for beginners and adventure-seekers. Go on your own or book a trip with an outfitter such as River Drifters and experience one of the most memorable outdoor adventure trips of a lifetime.
Only 24 miles from Maupin on the east slope of the northern Oregon Cascades. Getting to the South Shore Boat Ramp: Take Hwy 97 to Tygh Valley and follow the signs. Or, after May, take Hwy 35 to Forest Rd. 48 through Mt. Hood National Forest.
