January 2019 Newsletter

In his recent book,  Tribe: On Homecoming and Belonging , war correspondent, film maker, and writer Sebastian Junger claims: “If you want to make a society work, then you don’t keep underscoring the places where you’re different—you underscore your shared humanity.”

As 2019 unfolds, one of my goals as the new Chamber coordinator is to continue strengthening the Southern Wasco community—the sense of common unity among individuals and the prosperity of our commerce. These are the attributes that recently drew me to Maupin as a full-time resident and which will continue to attract new citizens with similar values as well as visitors who appreciate escaping the bustle of 21st-century life to bathe in the tranquil beauty of our place and our people.
